The New Grad

My sister-in-law Sara graduated from Emporia State University this weekend. My parents and I went up for the graduation and got to spend the day with her and my brother Matt. We had a great time! And then on Sunday they came down and are spending a week here with my parents, so even more great times! :) Here’s a picture of them…we are so proud!!

The Aftermath at Greensburg

May 9, 2007 at 5:08 pm (Uncategorized)

After weeks of rain and localized flooding, Chad and I are considering building our own ark. Today the sunshine teasingly peeked through the clouds as if to say “now you see me, now you don’t!”. I don’t mean to complain, but I see how those people in Alaska who see the sun for 1 or 2 hours a day get depressed. The coffee shop has a moat around it, and I don’t blame people for not wanting to get out of their cars just to get a donut.

Thanks to all of you who have called wondering if we were safe. Greensburg, Kansas is about an hour west of us, and their town was obliterated last Friday night by a tornado a mile wide. President Bush is going to be here today touring the devastation, hopefully he can bring some reassurance to those people who lost everything.

The people of Greensburg are in my prayers.
